Recently my husband and I have become involved in a project that will provide the base environment of a private grid for a boys club. The club hopes to encourage it's existing members and gain new members.
It has become clear that the leaders of the club are going through the same questions, the same quandaries, the same "what if's" that so many others have already gone through.
It has peaked a bit of my own curiosity. What is being done out there? Until this project, I have only given OpenSimulator based virtual world grids casual consideration. And, I have casually kept an eye on what educators are doing both in SecondLife and on private and public grids.
I am also interested in stories about collaboration and the positive impact people have on people in virtual worlds.
Oh, and just because I'm focused on how to train young people on OpenSim Grids, don't think I'll be ignoring Second Life. If there is application and theory that can be ported over, I'll talk about it, too.
